Day 3...I almost hit my breaking point

Today my job was to finish painting the hallway and the dining room. Then I had tackle the wallpapered wall in the master bedroom! A Home Depot trip was first on the list to load up on all of our supplies and flooring! Ouch! That hurt the Visa! We got back and contined to rip out the carpet! Yay!

Instead of dining room carpet, I opted for this until we tackle kitchen demolition. I will take this any day over the carpet!

I bought a wallpaper steamer to assist on the removal. Having removed wallpaper once before, I know what a stinking pain it is! This thing was working like a gem! I was cruising through it and the kids were SUPER helpful until we noticed the 2nd layer of wallpaper!!  I said a few cuss words, stormed out out of the room, stomped my feet, said more words and the started steaming layer number 2! Which was super stuck to the wall!

Isn't that cute! That's layer 1

There's layer 2...that B%^#*

Why the square in the middle of the room??? Oh no big deal! It's just a perfectly perfect window that has been sheet rocked over!

Here's the window about ready to be a window again!

Perfect window! Yay more light!

Meanwhile... In the living room, my amazing brother in laws and future sister in law are laying flooring! Matt is the boss man, Lexi is his assistant, and Sam is her assistant! Funny stuff!

Breaking point hit after clean up from wallpaper madness! My hands hurt so bad it hurt to stretch them, my palms were purple(today they are full on bruises), and I wanted to cry! But if you have ever done major home repairs , you know "there is no crying in home repairs! You are waisting time, suck it up and deal!"
So my sweet sister in law and husband started painting the master!
While I did this .......

Supervised! Someone has to manage these shenanigans!

Meanwhile there are 5 children all under the age of 8 in a construction zoned house at 10:30 at night with minimal supervision

Yes that's Kenley under Reos sweater asleep and her cousin Tell.

11:30 we decide it's a wrap! We couldn't have accomplished everything we did with support from our family! My mom and step dad brought us tools, a new/old dining room table, and went and got us all dinner! Matt and Angie and kids assisted with tools, water, Matt's pretty amazing floor laying skills, and Caster's painting our bedroom. Plus entertainment for Av and Kenley! Sam and Lexi made a critical beer run, assisting the floor layer, poopy diaper changer, wall paper remover, and over all good company!

Accomplished:
* Carpet is out of the hallway and dining room!
* painting is finished in the hallway and dining room
* 2 layers of wallpaper removed
* opened the window lost behind the sheet rock in the master
* painted master bedroom
* flooring began in the living room

Day 2-painting!

Just me and the kids at the house! Reo is in training and to get this thing somewhat done by the time the movers get here, I have to get busy! My job today is to paint the living room completely!

This wall isn't being painted. It's awesome looking burlapy wallpaper and even though I HATE wallpaper...I 'm keeping this!

The kids liked painting for all of 10 minutes! Av stuck it out for 30 minutes.

Instead they found my camera...

Trim and all! The color is gorgeous! In some lights it looks gray, in others olive green and in others it's dark brown! The color is called smoked trout! I love it! I splurged on paint too! We tried Behr Marquee paint from Home Depot. I am usually a cheap paint kind of gal, but because we really needed a primer and I didn't have time for 2 coats with such a dark color, I thought time is worthy the cost! It was well worth it! 1 coat, amazing coverage even on our porous walls, and completely took the grandma smell out of the walls! I am in love and recommend to ANYONE!
Next came the carpet! Good bye yucky orange carpet!
Look at those strong helpers! Good bye yucky padding!

Here is my gorgeous living room with the subfloor! So pretty!

Accomplished:
Walls painted living room
Trim painted living room
Carpet removed
Tacks removed
Staples removed

Found out today that I can't survive on 4 pieces of lunch meat turkey, two string cheeses, and coffee ! Must do better at nourishment!

Day 1

I have complaining like crazy for the last 3 days because stuff isn't happening fast enough, people aren't calling me back and quotes are not being completed. All we had to do to get into our house was resolve the issues from the inspection. I was so annoyed that I was sitting around waiting on others. Well today we resolved the inspection and got the keys to our home! What I didn't realize is that my life just changed! I immediately drove to Home Depot and started with painting supplies. We are painting while we have super ugly carpet so I can spill and not worry about the floor. Then I drove over to the house where it hit me just how much work lies ahead! Kenley and I got to work! Here she is helping pull out picture hanging nails out of the wall!

In 4 rooms this is the pile we accomplished! Plus we filled in the bazillion holes!

We went to get Av from school and then got to work on taking down the UGLY drapes from the living room! I wish I would have taken a picture but I was sneezing too much as the dust from 1958 that got the best of my allergies! I then finished half of the trim painting in the living room!

Accomplished:
*Got Keys to the house
*Stopped complaining
*Bazillion nail removal and hole filling
*Removed drapes from 1958
*Cleaned the walls and trim (cobwebs removed too)
*Bribed my kids with good behavior
*Painted half the living room trim
*Rewarded kids with a nasty meal at McDonalds (which they love because "we never eat there anymore because it's super bad for us" (read with a whiney voice from the back seat)
*Reward for mom... a couple of beers!

Our New Nest

We purchased a new home in Sheridan. This house is going to be a labor of love. It has great bones with excellent potential....problem is that it is stuck in 1958 when it was built! Here are the before pics of our little gem. The best thing about this house is the location! Oh man! It is in one of the best neighborhoods in Sheridan! We are so excited for our fixer upper.
