Bathroom half way point...

So on Monday, I had it with our bathroom. I was cleaning the bottom of the toilet and almost puked because of the "stains" that are left when individuals miss! I literally could not take the carpet in the bathroom any longer. Problem is, the carpet is glued down to linoleum. I tried several methods to get the carpet to pull up, fabric softener and hot water, WD-40, Goof off, and soaking it in hot water. I was using a hand scraper and my hands were shot! It wasn't until Reo came home and showed me the amazing ice picker that we have! I soon found that our wallpaper steamer works amazing to pull up the glue with the ice scraper! It went so quick after that but we still had the glue residue. Yuck! I found some stuff at Home Depot that is adhesive remover. This was found in the flooring department near the glue that you would use to put floor down with. We also decided to rip out the wallpaper! Yrs the beautiful seashells from 1970 was coming down! That made me very very happy!

Here is the before pic.

There is part of the carpet gone!

Here's my hunny taking down stuff off the walls

Of course Kenley got involved

Painting! Woooohooo! Kenley picked out the color! Oceanus! Love it!

No we are not leaving the pink counter top or that vanity! As soon as we officially close on the house we will start the demo of the vanity, add another sink, update lighting, get a new toilet, and flooring of course! But I don't have to look at stains on the carpet any longer! And that makes me so so happy! Here is a pic of our flooring now.

Coming together??? Kind of...

The last week has been crazy!

Recap! We have painted the living room, master bedroom, Kenley's room, Avon's room, hallway, and one wall in the dining room. We have removed carpet from the entire upstairs except for the bathroom(ewwwww gross I know, but we can't until we demo it!) We put down new flooring the living room and hallway. We pulled the old carpet out of the spare room downstairs as well!

Now we are ready for movers right???? Ahhhhh! Scary!

Here are some before and afters I put together.

Here is the master bedroom

Kenley's room

Living room with stuff in it!

What could be the worst thing to happen while you are in the middle of a move??? Getting the tummy flu! There is nothing worse then having the chillls, but you don't know where your sweaters are, needing water but having no idea where your cups are, wanting to curl up in bed but you don't know where your pillows are, and just being in the comfort of your own home....but I guess this is home now....

Here is Kenley who did a whole lot on Thursday, but I don't really know what she did because....

This is me. Passed out. Isn't she so sweet to take pictures of her sleeping sick momma.

The show must go on. After a day and a half of unpacking here is the garage...box haven!

This is what my dining room looks like.

The living room.

Kenley's room, she tries hard to unpack boxes, but becomes very distracted playing with toys she hasn't seen in a month.

Here is Avon's room. His Broncos gear is up already...priorities people!

Our downstairs family room looks really good! I busted this out today!

The 4th bedroom is storage!

Busting out some boxes and here is the kitchen and dining room.

Another view of the mess

And here is a view of my attire. My sweet 8 year old commented, "Hey mom, do you remember when we were in San Diego and we saw those people living in boxes on the beach?" Me, "yeah buddy" Avon replies, "yeah today you look like one of those people."

I thought I would share a pic of my homeless San Diego look...in the crochet Uggs! :) It's good for a laugh right!

Day 4...more paint and carpet removal

Today is all about finishing up projects so the movers can move our stuff in and we can live in it! On the agenda: flooring and painting!

I finished painting the master bedroom so we can finally rip up the carpet.

Freshly painted and now the moment of truth! It's unnerving pulling up carpet because you don't know what you will find underneath. The hardwood looked great under the edges where we pulled up the carpet, but you just don't know until it's up! Ready, set, GO!
That's the pad that is crumbling and super NASTY!!!

My sweet father in law ripped up the tacks and Pauline pulled up staples. Uncle Nash played with the kids so they stayed out of our way! :)

So pretty with the paint. Once again.... LOVE Behr Marquee paint! 1 quart! Peppery is the color and I LOVE IT! I don't know why, but in this house I went darker than I ever have!

Now onto Kenley's room. Pauline and I got started on the painting. We did the accent wall in pink and painted the trim. The rest of the walls were in pretty great shape, so we left them.

Love those floors! Seriously!

Here is the progress on the floors in the living room. Coming right along! Reo stayed to get the rest of the flooring done while I took the kids home. Now onto Gillette to have the movers get our stuff.

Onto Sheridan....

Day 3...I almost hit my breaking point

Today my job was to finish painting the hallway and the dining room. Then I had tackle the wallpapered wall in the master bedroom! A Home Depot trip was first on the list to load up on all of our supplies and flooring! Ouch! That hurt the Visa! We got back and contined to rip out the carpet! Yay!

Instead of dining room carpet, I opted for this until we tackle kitchen demolition. I will take this any day over the carpet!

I bought a wallpaper steamer to assist on the removal. Having removed wallpaper once before, I know what a stinking pain it is! This thing was working like a gem! I was cruising through it and the kids were SUPER helpful until we noticed the 2nd layer of wallpaper!!  I said a few cuss words, stormed out out of the room, stomped my feet, said more words and the started steaming layer number 2! Which was super stuck to the wall!

Isn't that cute! That's layer 1

There's layer 2...that B%^#*

Why the square in the middle of the room??? Oh no big deal! It's just a perfectly perfect window that has been sheet rocked over!

Here's the window about ready to be a window again!

Perfect window! Yay more light!

Meanwhile... In the living room, my amazing brother in laws and future sister in law are laying flooring! Matt is the boss man, Lexi is his assistant, and Sam is her assistant! Funny stuff!

Breaking point hit after clean up from wallpaper madness! My hands hurt so bad it hurt to stretch them, my palms were purple(today they are full on bruises), and I wanted to cry! But if you have ever done major home repairs , you know "there is no crying in home repairs! You are waisting time, suck it up and deal!"
So my sweet sister in law and husband started painting the master!
While I did this .......

Supervised! Someone has to manage these shenanigans!

Meanwhile there are 5 children all under the age of 8 in a construction zoned house at 10:30 at night with minimal supervision

Yes that's Kenley under Reos sweater asleep and her cousin Tell.

11:30 we decide it's a wrap! We couldn't have accomplished everything we did with support from our family! My mom and step dad brought us tools, a new/old dining room table, and went and got us all dinner! Matt and Angie and kids assisted with tools, water, Matt's pretty amazing floor laying skills, and Caster's painting our bedroom. Plus entertainment for Av and Kenley! Sam and Lexi made a critical beer run, assisting the floor layer, poopy diaper changer, wall paper remover, and over all good company!

Accomplished:
* Carpet is out of the hallway and dining room!
* painting is finished in the hallway and dining room
* 2 layers of wallpaper removed
* opened the window lost behind the sheet rock in the master
* painted master bedroom
* flooring began in the living room

Day 2-painting!

Just me and the kids at the house! Reo is in training and to get this thing somewhat done by the time the movers get here, I have to get busy! My job today is to paint the living room completely!

This wall isn't being painted. It's awesome looking burlapy wallpaper and even though I HATE wallpaper...I 'm keeping this!

The kids liked painting for all of 10 minutes! Av stuck it out for 30 minutes.

Instead they found my camera...

Trim and all! The color is gorgeous! In some lights it looks gray, in others olive green and in others it's dark brown! The color is called smoked trout! I love it! I splurged on paint too! We tried Behr Marquee paint from Home Depot. I am usually a cheap paint kind of gal, but because we really needed a primer and I didn't have time for 2 coats with such a dark color, I thought time is worthy the cost! It was well worth it! 1 coat, amazing coverage even on our porous walls, and completely took the grandma smell out of the walls! I am in love and recommend to ANYONE!
Next came the carpet! Good bye yucky orange carpet!
Look at those strong helpers! Good bye yucky padding!

Here is my gorgeous living room with the subfloor! So pretty!

Accomplished:
Walls painted living room
Trim painted living room
Carpet removed
Tacks removed
Staples removed

Found out today that I can't survive on 4 pieces of lunch meat turkey, two string cheeses, and coffee ! Must do better at nourishment!
